Our Book #: 007279
Oblong octavo. Decorated wheat cloth. [58]pp with great three-color illustrations throughout by Jane Miller. An involved story about a very imaginative little boy (modeled on the poet's son) who wants a lion for a pet. A kindly shopkeeper sells him a lion seed for a penny, Andrew plants the seed, and soon he's the happy owner of a lion named Lollipop. Quite an early title by Donald Hall and apparently his first book for children. Bookplate upper paste-down, a few mended edge tears and old tape stain to corner of one leaf. Good in chipped and edge worn dustjacket.
