Quarto. Maroon cloth gilt. 190pp with 62pp of color plates reproducing the work of Hopi artists Kutcahonauu, or White-bear, and his uncle Homovi, and with a few images by Winuta. While the pictures were made primarily to illustrate symbols and symbolic paraphernalia used in the personation of the gods (katcinas), they also show the ability of the Hopis in painting, a form of artistic expression which is very ancient to them.
