Illustrated with eight lovely full-page chromolithographs and smaller line drawings. Images include a little girl with her dollie, a lovely fairy, a nurse with a baby and a small boy riding a rockinghorse. Scarce. [SOLD]

Twenty-six leaves plus covers. With delightful color illustrations on heavy stock, printed on rectos only. A wonderful ABC featuring Kauai's magical elfin people, the Menehune, and incorporating Hawaiian words for the letters of the alphabet. Nice copy of this rather uncommon title. [SOLD]

Tak-Tak the Dachshund

First American Edition. 8.75"x11.25" White decorated boards darkened at lower edge else Very Good in Good+ dustjacket, frayed, light water stain. Translated from the French by Helen Weaver. Photographs by Colyann. 36pp. Tak-Tak and his friend, Piloucha the kitten, have adventures in the attic of an old castle while the family is away. Though the two have their differences, the final image shows them curled up together fast asleep. And of course the month-old puppy and kitten are irresistibly charming! [SOLD]

(48)pp. Ten beautiful full-page chromolithographs, seven of which are portraits of babies and three of childhood scenes, and with many line drawings throughout the pages, the whole printed on heavy stock. Depicted are fairies and flowers, babies, children, dolls and toys. Baby's First Ride is illustrated with mother and child in an open touring car. Included are poems about babies and blank areas to record events and place photos of baby's new life. A lovely Victorian baby book. $200.00

(34)pp with eight beautiful full-page color illustrations of appealing puppies printed on heavy stock. Breeds are identified as Alsatian, fox terrier, golden spaniel, Sealyham, Irish terrier, Boston terrier, and Scottie. There is also a white puppy which may be a samoyed. [SOLD]

Near Fine in Very Good+ dustjacket, frayed, the NY Herald Tribune's Children's Spring Book Festival Honor Book seal affixed. (36)pp. Big, bold, exciting color illustrations throughout by Esphyr Slobodkina. The typeface is cleverly utilized to emphasize that one of these range-ridin' cowboys is BIG and one is little. But everything the big cowboy does, the little cowboy does too. "ONE HAD LARGE BOOTS...one had little boots...ONE HAD A BIG LASSO...one had a little lasso...and they both had BIG HATS." Lots of fun! January features a snow scene with skiing, skating and sledding; April is depicted with children gathering meadow flowers; October's scene is a grape harvest and so on. A beautiful book. Very Good dustjacket lightly soiled with small closed tear at spine. Probable First Edition. 32pp with Chalmer's delightful drawings colored in shades of pink and green. Sam is a little cat who loves to pretend. When searching for his mother's lost kerchief, he finds a small natural stage in the woods and puts on his own play, acting all the parts! Scarce title. Chalmers, Mary. New York: Harper & Brothers (1955). First Edition. 6.25"x5.75" Pink cloth. Near Fine in a Very Good+ dustjacket, spine darkened, lightly frayed. (32)pp. Chalmers, in her first book for children, tells a gentle story of Susan and her friend Will Rabbit and their meandering walk to Mrs. Horseyfeather's house to borrow a cup of molasses. The author's charming illustrations are in delicate, spring-like colors. Scarce. See Bader, p487. $200.00

Ramona and Her Father
Cleary, Beverly. New York: Morrow, 1977. First Edition. 8vo Red boards. 190pp illustrated with line drawings by Alan Tiegreen. Ramona's dad loses his job and she decides to take an active hand in the problems that develop. A wise and funny book which was awarded a Newbery Honor. Inscribed and signed by Beverly Cleary to the half-title. Fine. Dustjacket a little frayed and edge worn, verso showing light staining to edges (book is unaffected). [SOLD]

The Tiny Little House
Clymer, Eleanor. Illustrations by Fetz, Ingrid. New York: Atheneum, 1964. 24mo Beige cloth. Minor soil to upper cover else Very Good in Very Good dustjacket. 56pp. A charming story somewhat reminiscent of both Virginia Lee Burton's The Little House and Rachel Field's The Yellow Shop and every bit as delightful as both of those. Two little girls fall in love with a small, abandoned house and help an older lady turn it into a home and a cookie shop. [SOLD]

The Anne of Green Gables Treasury

Fine in Fine dustjacket. 144pp. Each page is decoratively bordered with a design adapted from period wallpapers and there are more than 150 full-color reproductions of original paintings and sketches. Included is a short biography of Lucy Maude Montgomery and synopses of all the Anne books as well as recipes for an Anne tea party, handicrafts from the Anne books, and a great deal more. [SOLD]

Ride on the Wind
Dalgliesh, Alice. Illustrations by Schreiber, Georges. New York: Atheneum, 1964. First Edition. 8"x10" Pictorial cloth. [32]pp. Dalgliesh retold "The Spirit of St. Louis" for picture book format, a feat which Lindburgh proclaimed "extraordinarily well done." Schreiber's accompanying full color and two-color illustrations are marvelous, particularly the double-page spreads of the plane flying through a moonlit sky and Lindburgh's much feted night landing at the airdrome of Le Bourget. Near Fine in frayed dustjacket with small chip to spine head. $25.00

Slightest fading to spine and edges else Near Fine in Very Good+ dustjacket, lightly frayed and dusted. 8vo Green cloth gilt. 75pp. With four beautiful color plates, six full-page black & white illustrations and several three-quarter-page black & white images. Dorothy Lathrop excelled in her drawings of fairies and animals and here we have both. Includes de la Mare's fairy tales "The Dutch Cheese" and "The Lovely Myfanwy", stories which first appeared in Broomsticks. A lovely book. [SOLD]

The Little Green Car
Emerson, Caroline. Illustrations by Galdone, Paul. New York: Grosset & Dunlap (1946). 8"x9" Pictorial boards. [95]pp with terrific color and black & white lithos by Paul Galdone. A little green car from the country visits the big city and has a "smashing" time! But don't worry - there's a great 1940's happy ending. A nice copy of this rather scarce Story Parade Picture Book, a production of the Artists and Writers Guild. Near Fine in dustjacket with a few tiny chips. $65.00

Gone-Away Lake
Enright, Elizabeth. Illustrations by Krush, Beth and Joe. New York: Harcourt, Brace (1957). Stated First Edition. 8vo Green cloth. 192pp with illustrations from line drawings by Beth and Joe Krush. A wonderful story of summer, exploration and adventure by a very gifted writer. Gone-Away Lake was awarded a 1958 Newbery Honor and is a classic of 20th century children's literature.
