Lydia Maria Child's poem first appeared in her poetry anthology in the mid-1840's. Child's friend, John Greenleaf Whittier, included six stanzas of the poem in his popular children's verse collection under the title "Thanksgiving Day" and thereafter it became known as the unofficial anthem of Thanksgiving. The music for the song is included. Fine in dustjacket. A beautiful book.
