King Douda sends forth seven brothers, each of whom possesses a special magical craft, to win the hand of the lovely Helena. Bader (pp 192-196) says of the book: "Using only open line and solids, no one has dared quite so much nor, in color, employed line engravings to such effect." A 1938 Caldecott Honor book. Almost Fine. Dustjacket edge worn, lightly frayed, tiny chip at spine heel.

Her retelling is beautifully spare, her woodcuts remarkable. See Bader (pp 321-22) who writes that "...Once a Mouse is important to us...because it is universal in application and, as a picturebook, equally a drama and a work of art." The 1962 Caldecott Medal Winner. Fine in dustjacket with two long tears and light creasing, chipping at spine ends and corners.
