Reeves, Robert Dead and Done For (Signed) New York: Grosset & Dunlap (c. 1939) [1941] 8vo Green cloth titled and decorated in red. 288pp. Reeves' first book was set firmly in the hardboiled tradition and featured private detective Cellini Smith. Reeves wrote two other Cellini Smith novels and several short stories for Black Mask and Dime Detective in his brief career. He enlisted in the army on July 22, 1942 and was killed in the South Pacific on July 11, 1945, just a month before WWII ended. This inscribed presentation copy is signed "Bob Reeves" and dated July 17/42, Hollywood, Calif. Paper slightly darkened else Near Fine in about Very Good dustjacket (scuffing to lower spine, a few very tiny chips at corners and spine ends). Overall a nice copy of this reprint edition. Price:
