Smokey Bear lived with his mother in a cave in New Mexico until his forest home was engulfed by a fire. Smokey was rescued by a forest range and now his job is enlisting boys and girls as Junior Forest Rangers. Created in 1944 by the Ad Council, Smokey Bear is a mascot of the United States Forest Service. This is the "true story" of the American black bear cub who was caught in the Capitan Gap fire and rescued by a game warden. A Big Golden Book. Bit of wear to spine ends, light wear to corner tips, glaze beginning to peel. Neat inscription to ffep else Very Good. A crisp, clean copy.
