8vo Trade paperback. 283pp. Ex-con's gritty crime novel of the Los Angeles underworld, originally published in 1973, this reprint with an introduction by William Styron. Bunker's first book was made into the film "Straight Time'" which starred Dustin Hoffman and introduced Kathy Bates, Gary Busey, and Theresa Russell, with Bunker in a bit part. Signed and inscribed by the author: "Charlie, Read it, think remake (with small drawing of a winking smiley face) Eddie Bunker" Small stain top edge of upper cover through first dozen pages. Edge wear and a little scuffing to lower cover. Good.
