12mo Decorated red cloth with pictorial onlay. 329pp with lovely color frontis and 46 black & white illustrations from photographs. Probable First Edition. In his introduction to teachers and parents, Paine says of his book that he has "tried to tell in simple language a few of the wonders of plant life, and to set down certain easy methods of observation, including planting, tending, and gathering the harvests, from month to month, throughout the year." And so begins the story of Prue and Davy and their garden. Gilt lightly tarnished, spine slightly darkened, some dust soiling and minor spotting to upper text block. Occasional marginal spotting to pages else about Very Good.
