Folio. Cloth-backed pictorial boards. [56]pp with the d'Aulaire's rich color and black & white illustrations throughout, the lithography by William Glaser in this early printing. An account written for children of the life of the first American President. The d'Aulaires won the Caldecott Medal for their portrayal of Abraham Lincoln. Child's name and address upper paste-down. Spine head torn and frayed, corners worn, edges rubbed, covers lightly soiled. Two leaves with mended gutter tears; hinges repaired. The final portrait of Washington has some neat outlining by a child and a small stain in the margin of the facing page else contents clean. Reading copy.
