A long romantic poem, originally published in 1882, here enhanced with delightful period photography. In her day, Ella Wheeler Wilcox was one of America's most popular poets. Slight rubbing to extremities else Very Good. A lovely copy.

Small octavo. Ribbed green cloth with lovely floral decorations stamped in silver, green and pale peach, t.e.g. ix, 354pp + 2pp of adverts. Illustrated with eight photogravure plates with captioned tissue guards. Wright, an amateur naturalist, founded the Connecticut Audubon Society in 1896 and, among other accomplishments, wrote several educational books for children to instill in them an appreciation for nature. A third of the ffep has been neatly clipped away, ink name below, otherwise a Very Good copy with light rubbing to extremities. Signed to the title page by Mabel Osgood Wright.
